Crazy for Mad Italian!
The Mad Italian Gelato Bar
1581 Bayview Avenue (and also 589 College Street)
After an incredibly filling dinner at Highway 61, we were dumb enough to head a little further south along Bayview to try what we heard was amazing gelato. Our sources weren’t wrong!

Shown above are the more mouthwatering-looking, being all bright and topped prettily with fruit, and most of which are appropriately, the water-based flavours. The flavours we chose are from the other side (mostly milk-based) whose colour palette of browns and greens, colours far less enticing, but their names of the flavours called to us. The Mad Italian offers quite a big collection.
Gelato is comparable to ice cream since they are made from the same dairy products but has a lower butterfat content and higher sugar. The result is a lighter and sweeter frozen treat.

Tanner had Nutella (or was it just Hazelnut?) and Pistachio
two flavours in a waffle cone, 5.85 (tax and our tip included)
I had Stracciatella and Ferrero Roché [Pictured atop]
two flavours in a sugar cone, 4.65 (tax and our tip included)
Is it really possible that we discovered an even better gelato bar just down the street from Hollywood Gelato, home to the flavour Rocky Roché, which we tried and loved? Apparently. (They offer much more than just gelato with a selection of hot and cold drinks as well as pastries.) You’d be crazy not to try it, and we promise, you’ll still be crazy for Mad Italian the second their gelato touches your tongue.
